On October 5, 2020, the Marion Senior Fair Board voted to transition the supervision of barn advisors to them and all interested in serving in a barn advisor role will be required to submit an application. The application may look similar as the Senior Fair Board will continue to follow the policy, they put in place in 2018/2019, requiring barn advisors to complete the required volunteer application and BCI background check through the local 4-H program.
The Senior Fair Board members who oversee the designated barns will review the barn advisor applications and will make their selections. Upon approval, selected barn advisors will be required to complete a background check prior to the first Junior Fair Board meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for January 28 at 7 p.m. The BCI background check is good for four years. Notifications will be emailed out to volunteers when it is time to renew.
For those of you who serve as 4-H club advisors/volunteers and/or have completed a BCI background check in the last four years through the local 4-H program, you will only be required to complete the barn advisor application.
